LIMITED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FUND

What is it? 
The Limited Assistance Fund is a trust fund designed to assist retired Minneapolis Public School Teachers with nursing or hospital bills over and above Medicare and / or insurance coverage. It is designed to help teachers only and is not meant for other family members. Partial assistance may be given when requests exceed the allotted trust revenues. 

What expenses are eligible? 
The first priority: to those who have hospital or licensed nursing (LPN or RN) care bills which are not covered by Medicare or other insurance. Also covered are: in or out-patient procedures performed at hospital, clinics, or medical centers. Members may also apply for compensation for prosthetic devices. 
Second priority: When funds are available, the Limited Medical Assistance Fund may reimburse insurance premiums of teachers who retired between 1974 to January 1, 2000, and not eligible for Medicare part A. 

What is Not eligible: 
Office co-payment obligations, nursing home care, medications, therapy, glasses, dental care, or non medical additions to billing.
